Submission Rewards - both for art and writing!

GENERAL GUIDELINES

Basic rules, or guidelines, that all submissions must follow.

  • All depicted characters must currently be approved and added on the masterlist. Voided characters are not eligible for submission.
    • Characters must be recognizable and accurate to their masterlist form(s).
    • Submissions may not contain more than 10 characters; unique or duplicate.
    • Squibble accuracy: all members of a Squibble must be shown together, but can count as individual characters for rewards purposes.
  • Each submission must be unique.
    • Each piece may only be submitted for rewards once.
    • Reused elements cannot be claimed twice.
  • Prohibited Content
    • All content must follow the rules outlined in our Terms of Service.
    • The use of artificial intelligence for any published works containing or related to Squib Islands is strictly prohibited.

  • Fullbody - 20 Kelpos
    • 80% of the character is shown.
  • Simplified Fullbody - 10 Kelpos
    • Simplified details or inaccurate anatomy. 
    • Can apply to background characters or silly drawings!
  • Halfbody - 12 Kelpos
    • 40% to 79% of the character is shown.
  • Headshot - 6 Kelpos
    • 20% to 39% of the character is shown.

 

Additional bonuses (ART)

  • NPC/Gift Characters - 5 Kelpos
    • Bonus Kelpos for each character that does not belong to you, including NPCs. Characters must have gift art toggled on to recieve this bonus.
  • Companions - 6 Kelpos
    • Companions must be approved and on the masterlist.
    • Companions do not need to be owned by the player drawing them, but must have gift art toggled on. Companions do not apply to the gift art bonus.
  • Pets - 3 Kelpos
    • Pets do not need to be owned to be claimed for rewards.
    • Duplicates of the same pet must be depicted with unique posing or details to be claimed.
  • Props - 5 Kelpos
    • Small, detailed props that do not qualify as an isolated element.

 

Shading (ART)

To earn shading rewards, the same level of shading must be present throughout the entire piece.

  • None: No additional rewards earned. (x1)
    • The piece consists of flat coloring.
    • Shading comes from one broadly applied gradient.
    • The piece has minimal shading that is not consistent throughout all of the elements listed for claim. 
  • Simple Shading - 20% Extra (x1.2)
    • All characters and elements are rendered with one level of light and/or shadow and is consistent throughout the piece.
  • Complex Shading - 60% Extra (x1.6)
    • All characters and elements are fully rendered and convey a sense of volume.
    • Shading uses multiple layers of light and shadow.

 

background detail (ART)

  • Ineligible Backgrounds
    • Backgrounds that do not contain unique or hand drawn elements.
      • Solid coloring/gradients
      • Repeating patterns
      • Reuse of focal art
  • Backdrop - 10 Kelpos
    • A hand drawn scene with little to no elements or props.
  • Isolated Elements - 10 Kelpos
    • Floating or isolated elements, such as large props or aspects.
  • Simple Scene - 20 Kelpos
    • A background containing both a backdrop and isolated elements.
    • Minimum of 2 elements, or props, within the scene.
  • Complex Scene - 40 Kelpos
    • A detailed background that has a defined foreground, middleground, and background. The scene should have depth and a significant amount of elements or details that contribute to the complexity of the piece.
    • Character(s) cannot take up more than 50% of the scene.

 

writing guidelines

  • Word Count
    • Submissions must be a minimum of 400 words and a maximum of 2,500 words.
    • Submissions may not be split into multiple pieces to get around the word limit.
    • Each submission must read as its own, full piece.
  • Format
    • All submissions must be written in narrative prose, unless otherwise stated in the prompt description.
  • Language and Legibility
    • All written submissions must be made in English at this time. While we understand that English is not everyone's first language, we cannot guarantee having prompt mods to approve submissions written in other languages in a timely manner. Apologies for this inconvienience! We'll do our best to work with you if edits are needed.
    • Please make sure to proofread your work for legibility. Writing with minor errors may be accepted, but submissions with a large amount of errors or otherwise is difficult to understand may be returned and will be able to be revised.

  • Base Rewards - 20 Kelpos
    • For the first 400 words.
  • Additional Rewards - 5 Kelpos
    • Per every 100 words, or otherwise 0.05 Kelpo per word.
    • This is rounded to the nearest whole value by the calculator. 

 

Additional bonuses (WRITING)

  • NPC/Gift Characters - 20% Extra (x1.2)
    • For works featuring a character that does not belong to you as a focal character, or otherwise prominent role. Characters must have gift writing enabled for this reward to apply.
